Refunding a ticket: how it works
Reimbursement is undoubtedly the question that comes up the most after purchasing tickets. Is this possible? How long does it take ? Who to contact? Rest assured, the principle is simpler than it seems. This guide calmly explains how a refund works, in which cases it may apply, and how to follow your request without stress.
A refund is not guaranteed
Buying an event ticket isn't quite like buying something you can return. Reimbursement depends on the conditions set by the organizer and the ticket office. Some tickets are conditionally refundable, others are not refundable at all, and the rules vary from event to event. The first thing to do is therefore always to check what is planned for your ticket, on your confirmation or the event page.
Situations where a refund is more likely
- The 'T0' event is canceled 'T1' by the organizer.
- The 'T0' event is postponed to 'T1' and you cannot attend the new date (subject to conditions).
- You have taken out 'T0' cancellation insurance 'T1' covering your situation.
- The ticket office provides a 'T0' refund policy 'T1' within a given period.
Request a refund
- 1
Check your eligibility
Re-read the conditions of your ticket to find out if a refund is provided in your case.
- 2
Gather your information
Order number, email used and confirmation: keep them handy.
- 3
Make your request
Use the dedicated option in your account if it exists, otherwise contact support.
- 4
Follow the treatment
Keep the acknowledgment of receipt and wait the time indicated for processing.
By what means of payment?
Typically, a refund is made to the payment method used during the purchase. If you paid by card, the amount is most often returned to the same card. This is why it's helpful to keep track of your initial payment information. If in doubt about the method of restitution, the ticket office will be able to clarify it for you.
Refund and cancellation: the link
Canceling a ticket and getting a refund are two related but separate things. Cancellation may result in a full, partial, or no refund, depending on the conditions. Conversely, certain events canceled by the organizer entitle you to a refund without any cancellation action on your part. To fully understand your situation, also read our guide on cancellation.
